I have a Hamilton Beach 6qt. I love it. The part I like best is that it has a high, low and WARM setting. On older models it seemed as though the low setting would get to hot after a while.

Megan, If you go to the 1 hour to cook & eat post and read the post from Tracy, you may find an idea that will work for them. I wrote about a book called "Once-a-Month Cooking" in the book they talk about freezing portions for 1 person. This might work for your mother and mother-in-law. They could either adjust the amounts needed so they would get what they need for themselves or they could get together with a few friends and divide it up amongst themselves. Tracy

Hi Megan, Another idea that you might want to consider is a thing called "Once-a-month cooking". I have not tried this yet myself, but have purchased the book and plan to get together with two of my friends to do this. The book gives you 5 meal plans, 3-two week plans and 2-one month plans so your meal selection is varied. It also gives you everything you need to know to prepare the meals. I heard about this idea on the radio station that I listen to through a program that they were airing. If you would like to listen to this 2-day broadcast you can find it at www.family.org, on the left side of the screen click the "go" button by daily broadcast, then on the right side of the screen click on "more recent broadcasts", then scroll down to October 24 & 25. I have received my book and can't wait to get started!!
