If you run out of brown sugar unexpectedly, mix a cup of granulated sugar with two tablespoons of molasses to make your own.
Place hardened brown sugar in a bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and seal with foil or plastic wrap. Allow to stand at room temperature overnight or until the sugar softens.
