Slice around the perimeter of the peach. Hold a peach half in each hand and twist them in opposite directions until they separate from each other. The pit will remain in one half of the peach.
To first check if a peach is ripe, sniff the stem end of the peach. It should have a sweet peachy scent, if not it probably is not going to be very flavorful. Also avoid peaches with blemishes, bruises or green coloring.
Cut a slit at top of peaches, pour boiling water over them and leave for 30 seconds. Remove and submerge in cold water. The skin should pull off easily with a small knife.
