Egg Nog Cookies Recipe

Enjoy that sweet and creamy holiday not in cookie form that everyone can enjoy. There's a hint of spicy nutmeg in the cookie and sprinkled on top. Be sure to use freshly grated nutmeg, it makes all the difference.

Ingredients
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 tablespoon grated nutmeg
  • 3/4 cup butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3/4 cup egg nog
  • GLAZE:
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 3 tablespoons egg nog

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper.

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt and nutmeg.

In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time. Add the vanilla.

Alternate between the flour mixture and eggnog, adding until all of the ingredients are incorporated.

Scoop the cookie dough onto the prepared baking sheets.

Bake the cookies for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are just starting to brown.

Transfer the cookies to a cooling rack to cool.

For the glaze, whisk together the glaze ingredients and set aside.

Once the cookies have cooled down, brush with glaze. Garnish with fresh grated nutmeg.

"I LOVE egg nog so I knew I had to try these cookies. I will definitely be making these for Christmas! My kids weren't thrilled, but egg nog isn't really their favorite so it figures. Probably more for adults."
