A specialty utensil designed to clean dirt and debris from soft skinned foods, such as mushrooms. Made from polyester, nylon or rubber soft bristles, a Mushroom Brush is constructed so the texture of the bristles will not scrape or damage the fragile skin of fresh fungi. Since it is best not to wash mushrooms when preparing them for slicing or cooking, Mushroom Brushes are a good tool to use to cleanse the outer skins of delicate vegetables. Two of the most common brushes are the rectangular shaped plastic brush with rubbery-plastic bristles or the knob handled, round brush with soft textured nylon bristles. Either brush works well to remove dirt and other particles from the sensitive mushroom skins.
