A Hungarian fresh cheese traditionally made from sheep's milk, but is also made from combinations of sheep's and goat's milk or sheep's and cow's milk. Soft in consistency, Liptauer cheese has a crumbly to spreadable moist texture and a very mild flavor. To enhance the taste, the cheese is often combined with other popular ingredients used in Hungarian foods such as paprika, capers, various herbs, garlic, onions, caraway seeds, and other seasonings that provide additional flavor. There are many different recipes for making Liptauer cheese with a variety of ingredients that are altered to suit the tastes desired for the cheese.
