Term that describes the color of wine. Browning occurs as a red wine ages and/or the wine is exposed to excessive amounts of air. This amber/brownish tint is seen along the edge of the surface of a tilted goblet. Wine that is browning is thought to be at its peak, fully matured. Browning in young red wines is not desirable. Older wines denoting a brownish tint may still be enjoyable.
