Ranier Cherry
A sweet cherry, which is one of the Gean varieties, that is grown in cooler climates in the United States. This cherry is round or heart-shaped and matures from a light golden color to a deeper golden with a reddish-pink hue when ripe. The soft outer flesh covers juicy inner meat that contains a medium sized pit. Rainier cherries can be stored for longer periods of time and can be frozen to preserve them for future use. They can be eaten out of hand, or as an ingredient in desserts such as clafouti, jams, salads, or sauces.
