1. A dessert with a crumb topping made from flour, oats, butter, and brown sugar combined into a mixture that is sprinkled over sliced fruit and baked. One of the most common crumble desserts is "apple crumble".

2. Refers to the breaking or food into small pieces such as dried bread or crackers, cooked bacon, or certain hard, dry cheeses that tend to be brittle and easily broken apart. This is best accomplished using the fingers and applying slight pressure uniformly across the item being crumbled.
