A hardy plant used as an herb that grows in temperate zones throughout the world. The sweet, spicy, and slightly bitter and acidic roots, stems, seeds, and leaves are used for a variety of purposes. The roots and seeds are used to flavor various liqueurs. The seeds are also used for the production of perfume. The stems are often candied with sugar and used as a decoration for desserts. The leaves add a unique flavor to salads and entrees. Angelica is also useful for medicinal purposes to help digestion and relieve cold symptoms.
