In large dutch oven, or stew pot, brown ground beef and drain off fat. Add chopped onion and cook a few minutes. Stir in beans and tomatoes. (If you cannot get the chopped tomatoes with green chilies us the 2 cans of tomatoes and a small can of chipped green chilies.) Add the remaining spices. Bring to boiling. Reduce to simmer and cook covered about 1 1/4 hours or til desired consistency, stir occasionally. If too much juice you may cook it uncovered until desired.
*Alternate cooking method: Brown meat and cook onions in large skillet and transfer to slow cooker. Add remaining ingredients and cook to desired consistency.
