| | Directions | | Wash pears, removing stems. Cut a thin slice off the bottom of each pear so they stand upright. Arrange the pears in a large glass pie pan or baking dish. Combine wine and honey in a medium bowl, whisking until well blended. Pour over the pears. Add cinnamon sticks, bay leaves and orange zest to the wine mixture around the pears. Bake at 350°, basting every 15 minutes with the liquid until the pears are wrinkled and tender, about 45-60 minutes depending on size and type of pear. Remove from baking dish with a slotted sppon and transfer to individual, shallow dessert bowls. Pour liquid from baking dish into small saucepan and bring to a boil. Boil until slightly thickened, about 6 minutes. Drizzle over the pears and garnish with the cinnamon sticks, bay leaves and orange zest. Serve warm, at room temperature or chilled. |
