| Sprinkle 1/3 cup sugar on sliced strawberries; set aside. Mix flour, brown sugar, nuts and margarine and spread evenly in shallow pan. Bake 15-20 minutes in 350 degree oven, stirring occasionally. Remove from oven and sprinkle 3/4 of this mixture into a 9x13 inch glass dish. Cool completely. In a large mixing bowl, mix egg whites and strawberry mixture. Beat on high and begin adding the remaining sugar. Beat until stiff peaks form, about 10-15 minutes. Beat whipping cream in a separate bowl and fold into strawberry mixture. Pour over nut mixture and then top with remaining crumbs. Cover with wax paper followed by plastic wrap to seal. Freeze overnight or at least 6 hours. Slice and serve frozen. |
