Vanilla Cream Pie 2 - Recipe

Directions
In sauce pan mix sugar, cornstarch and salt. Gradually stir in milk. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until mixture thickens and boils. Boil 1 minute. Remove from heat. Gradually stir at least half of the hot mixture into the 3 egg yolks. Take this mixture and blend back into the mixture in the saucepan. Boil 1 minute more, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Blend in butter and vanilla. If topping with meringue, top immediately and bake 8-10 minutes at 400°. If topping with whipped cream, chill pie thoroughly before topping.
