Cake: Cream sugar and butter together. Add egg yolks, one at a time, beating after each. Add flour and baking powder alternately with milk and vanilla. Add walnuts. Beat egg whites and fold into batter. Bake in greased and floured tube pan at 325° for 50 min. Icing: Combine sugars and half and half. Cook over medium heat at a rolling boil, stirring constantly for 6 min. Remove from heat and add margarine and vanilla. Stir until margarine is melted. Set in ice water and stir until consistency to spread on cooled cake. If too thick, thin with a few drops of milk. |
