Mix butter and sugar first, then add vanilla and flour. Mix a bit with the mixer, then knead together well with your hands. Press into Pam sprayed 7 x 11 rectangle pan or 8 x 8 pan. Very lightly sprinkle with sugar. Bake about 20 minutes at 325 degrees (until a teeny bit golden).
Cookie version: Roll dough into balls and flatten with bottom of glass that you put a bit of butter on and then dip the glass in sugar. Bake on cookie sheet at 325 degrees, about 10-12 minutes. Makes 32 cookies.
