| | Directions | - In a large bowl, cream together the white sugar, brown sugar, and shortening.
- Add the eggs and vanilla; mix well.
- In a separate bowl, combine the flour, salt, baking soda, and baking powder. Add this dry mixture to the creamed mixture and mix well.
- Stir in the oatmeal.
- Add your choice of nuts, raisins, coconut, or chocolate chips.
- Drop by the teaspoonful on a greased cookie sheet.
- Bake 12 minutes at 375ºF.
- Cool on wire racks.
