Beat shortening, sugar, eggs and vanilla. Add flour, soda, salt. Fold in chips and oatmeal. Bake at 375 degrees for 8 minutes. (Will be very slightly brown.) Makes 6 dozen. You may substitute the chocolate chips with raisins.
