Flakey Butter Pie Crust - Recipe

Directions
  • Measure flour and salt into bowl.
  • Cut in butter thoroughly.
  • Sprinkle in water 1 tablespoon at a time, mixing until all flour is moistened and dough almost cleans side of bowl. (1 - 2 TBS water may be added if needed).
  • On floured board, roll out dough 2" larger than pie pan.
  • For 1 crust pie, bake at 475° F for 8-10 minutes.
  • For 2 crust pie, bake at 425° for 25-30 minutes.
  • TIP - Put the ingredients in a large tupperware container. After the butter has been cut into the flour mixture, add water 1 TBS at a time and shake thoroughly. The dough will eventually mold together and form into a ball. This cuts back on how much the dough is handled.
  • TIP - For a 2 crust pie, dot with butter before you put the top crust on. Once the top crust is on, cut slits in the dough and brush the top with milk.
  • Then sprinkle 1 tablespoon cinnamon and sugar on top before baking.
