Cream together butter, 1/4 cup sugar, and 1/4 tsp salt. Stir in 1 cup flour. Pat onto bottom of 9x9x2-inch pan. Bake at 350° for 15 minutes or till lightly browned.
meanwhile, beat eggs slightly; add vanilla. Gradually add brown sugar, beating just till blended. Add 2 Tbs flour and 1/2 tsp salt. Stir in coconut and nuts. Spread over baked layer. Bake 20 minutes longer. Cool.
Cut in diamond shapes.
