Almond Sugar Cookies - Recipe

A crispy and light sugar cookie loaded with flavor. These cookies are especially requested at Christmas. Almond extract is my favorite but you can change it by modifying the flavoring.

Directions
  • In a large bowl, cream together the butter, oil and sugars. Add in the eggs, one at a time. Add vanilla and almond extracts.
  • Sift together the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until well blended.
  • Chill for at least 2 hours as batter is soft.
  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
  • Roll the dough into walnut sized balls. Place the cookies 2 inches apart onto the cookie sheet. Flatten cookies to 1/8 inch thickness using the bottom of a glass dipped in sugar.
  • Bake for 8-10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until the edges are golden brown. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 2 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Frost, if desired.
