In a heavy saucepan, combine butter, sugar, and milk. Bring to a boil and boil for 3 minutes. Remove from heat and add oatmeal, peanut butter, coconut and vanilla. Stir until mixture thickens. Drop by teaspoons on waxed paper for small cookies, tablespoons for larger cookies.
