Directions

Mix syrup, sugar, allspice, soda, oleo, eggs and vanilla. Add boiling water. Add flour gradually, stirring well. Bake in loaf pan at 350°F. You can also add pecans, walnuts or raisins.

We used this cake during the Depression and it was good without the nuts, raisins and sugar. We just added 1/2 c. more syrup.

-		1 cup Ribbon Cane syrup
-		1 cup Sugar
-		1 teaspoon allspice
-		1 teaspoon baking soda
-		1 cup oleo
-		3 Eggs
-		1 teaspoon vanilla
-		1 cup boiling water
-		3 cups flour
