| Directions | Preheat the oven to 425 degrees. Sift together the dry ingredients into a large bowl. Cut in the shortening. Make a nest in the flour mixture and add the buttermilk. Gently kneed the mixture with your hands until thoroughly combined and a soft dough forms. On a floured cutting board, pat the dough to a 1/2 inch thickness and cut with a biscuit cutter or the rim of a glass. Place the biscuits on a cookie sheet and bake for 12 minutes or until golden brown. |
