| | Directions | | Soften yeast in water. In a large bowl, combine sugar, butter, salt, milk. and eggs. Add the yeast mixture. Beat until smooth. Add enough of the remaining flour to form a soft dough.. Turn onto a floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, turning once to coat; cover. Let rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 1/2 hours. Prepare the filling. Divide dough in half. Roll out one part to 10 x 15" rectangle. Brush with melted butter. Sprinkle with half the filling. Roll as for jelly roll, starting with the long side. Place on greased cookie sheet. Fold half the roll on top of the other half, sealing ends together. Starting at the folded end, cut with scissors down the center of the roll to within 1" of the other end. Turn cut halves flat on the side, cut side up, to form a heart. Repeat with remaining dough. Let rise in warm place until light, about 45 minutes. Bake at 350° for 25-30 minutes. |
