Cream shortening and sugar. Add pumpkin, vanilla and egg; beat well. Add dry ingredients. Stir in raisins. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto cookie sheet. Bake at 350° for 10 to 12 minutes. Frost with icing when cool. Icing: Combine butter, vanilla, milk and brown sugar, cook, stirring constantly, to a rolling boil. Cook; stir confectioners sugar. Frost cookies.
