Combine all ingredients in a large bowl, excluding the beans: mix thoroughly. Add beans, stir, and chill at least one hour. Before serving, stir beans in marinade: drain off excess liquid. Then serve.
Canned beans are acceptable substitute.
If no ground oregano is handy, use regular leafy oregano.
