| 1. Soak beans overnight in cold water. Drain and replace the water and bring to a boil. Simmer until the beans are tender and splitting. Drain, reserving the liquid. 2. Put onions in a 2 quart bean pot and cover with beans. 3. Combine the molasses, sugar, mustard, pepper and bean liquid and pour over the beans until covered. 5. Lay salt pork on top and bake at 300 degrees for about two hours. Add liquid if necessary to keep beans covered. Bake another 2 hours, uncovered for the last 1/2 hour. |
