| | Directions | | Remove outer leaves of cabbage; cut into quarters and remove hard core. Shred cabbage fine. Cook bacon in large skillet until crisp. Remove bacon from drippings and set aside. Chop onion and cook in pan for 2 to 3 minutes. Add cabbage, salt, pepper and cider. Cover tightly and cook over low heat for 10 minutes. Add apples, vinegar and brown sugar. Cook until apples are tender. Serves 8. |
