Melt butter in a glass cup. Place pecans in a microwave safe shallow dish or pie plate. Pour melted butter over pecans, stir to coat. Microwave on high 5 to 7 minutes or until they start to change color. Add salt to taste; mix thoroughly. Spread on paper towels to cool.
Note: Microwave nuts heat quickly and brown evenly. Remove them from the oven as soon as they start to color; they brown as the stand.
