Place all in crock pot, on low in morning. Ready when you are for supper. No need to brown the meat. Can't really over cook this one.
Some alternatives add ons: 1/2 pack onion soup mix instead of fresh onions, 1 C of red wine (for that French taste), root vegetables for a complete meal. Can also use stew meat and some additional broth with same basic recipe for a hearty stew.
1 Roast -- the more fat, the better! (Cheap cut...love it...keeps it tender)
6 - 8 allspice balls
2 bay leaf
1 or 2 onions
salt and pepper to taste
