Crock Pot Turkey Recipe

Submitted by RecipeTips.com
A whole turkey in the slow cooker? That's right and it can even still be frozen! How easy is that! Make sure you have a crockpot large enough so the lid fits. The meat just falls off the bones, so deboning is a synch. Great for turkey sandwiches.

Honey Yeast Rolls Recipe

Submitted by RecipeTips.com
A copy cat recipe from the Texas Roadhouse for those famous rolls. These have that same hint of sweet in them from the honey. Best when hot out of the oven but still delicious after they've cooled.
Honey Yeast Rolls Recipe
PREP: 30 minutes
COOK: 15 minutes
READY IN: 3 1/2 hours
Servings:
Change Servings
Ingredients
  • 2 cups milk
  • 3 tablespoons butter, melted, cooled
  • 1 packet active dry yeast (1 1/4 ounce packet)
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1/2 cup sugar, divided
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 7 cups flour, divided
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons salt
Directions
Place milk in a saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a boil and remove from heat. Allow to cool to room temperature.

Melt the butter in the microwave and set aside.

In a stand mixer with the whisk attachment, combine yeast, warm water and 1 Tablespoon sugar. Let the yeast get bubbly.

Add the rest of the sugar, honey, milk and 3 1/2 cups flour to the yeast mixture. Beat together for 2 minutes.

Add butter, eggs and salt. Mix well.

Remove the whisk attachment and start using the hook attachment from here. Add the rest of the flour, 1/2 cup at a time, until the dough begins to separate from the sides of the bowl.

Let it rest for 3-5 minutes.

Knead the dough in the bowl for 5 minutes. Add flour 1 Tablespoon at a time if the dough seems sticky. Get out a large bowl and grease it with butter.

Remove dough from the mixing bowl and place in the greased bowl. Flip it around till the entire outside is nice and shiny. Loosely cover the bowl with plastic wrap and allow the dough to double in size, approximately 45 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the temperature of your kitchen.

Once the dough has doubled, smash it down with your fists for about 1 minute.

Roll the dough out to about a 1/2 inch thick. Then fold the dough in half, now making it 1 inch thick, and roll over with a rolling pin to seal it together.

Cut the dough into 2-inch squares.

Place the dough on a greased baking sheet, 2 inches apart, and cover lightly with plastic wrap. Allow the dough to double in size again, approximately 1 hour.

Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes, or until golden brown.

Immediately rub the tops with a little bit of butter for that fabulous shine. Enjoy!

Ingredients
  • CAKE:
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 6 ounces white chocolate
  • 1/2 cup hot water
  • 1 cup butter - softened
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
  • FROSTING:
  • 6 ounces white chocolate
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup butter - softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
Directions
CAKE:
  • Grease and flour two 8-inch round cake pans and set aside. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Sift the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt together; set aside.
  • In a small saucepan, over low heat, melt the white chocolate together with the hot water; stir until smooth. Allow this mixture to cool to room temperature.
  • Cream the butter and the sugar together in a large mixing bowl until fluffy. Begin adding the eggs one at a time, beating well after adding each.
  • Stir in the flour mixture by hand, alternating back and forth with the buttermilk until all has been incorporated.
  • Mix in the melted white chocolate and vanilla.
  • Once the batter is well mixed, pour it into the prepared cake pans and bake for 30 minutes or just until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean.
  • Remove from the oven and allow to cool for 10 minutes before removing from the pans. Place on a rack to cool completely before frosting.
FROSTING:
  • In a saucepan, add the white chocolate, flour, and milk. Stirring constantly, cook over medium heat until very thick.
  • Remove from heat and allow to cool completely.
  • In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter, sugar, and vanilla until fluffy. Slowly mix in the cooled white chocolate mixture.
  • Once chocolate mixture is mixed in, beat at high speed until the frosting is the consistency of whipped cream.
  • Frost the cake by adding a layer of frosting between the cake layers and then spread remaining frosting on the sides and top of the cake.
  • Garnish the cake with chocolate curls on top.
