Holiday sugar cookies with a surprising kiss of peppermint.

  • 1 package Sugar Cookie Mix
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine, melted
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 2 ounces finely crushed peppermint candies or tiny peppermint pieces
  • 1 can vanilla frosting
  • Red colored sugar

  • Heat oven to 375 degrees F. In a large bowl, stir cookie mix, butter, egg, and flour until soft dough forms. Stir in peppermint candies.
  • Shape dough into 3/4 - inch balls. On ungreased cookie sheets, place balls 2 inches apart.
  • Bake 8-10 minutes or until edges are light golden brown. Cool 5 minutes; remove from cookie sheets to cooling racks.
  • Frost cookies with vanilla frosting and sprinkle with red colored sugar if desired or additional crushed candies if desired.
