Steak Sandwich with caramelized onions Recipe

  • 1/2 cup butter, divided
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 pounds cube steak
  • seasoned salt
  • 1/2 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce
  • horseradish
  • 6 kaiser rolls
In a large skillet, add 1/4 cup butter with onions. Cook until soft and caramelized, 15-20 minutes. Add mushrooms and cook 5-10 minutes more. Remove onions and mushrooms from skillet; keep warm. Season cube steak with seasoned salt. Melt 2 tablespoons butter over high heat. Add cube steak and brown on both sides. Add onions and mushrooms back into skillet along with Worcestershire, broth, hot sauce and remaining butter. Decrease heat to medium low. Half the rolls, buttering each side. Broil in oven until golden brown. Serve meat mixture over browned rolls. Spread rolls with horseradish, if desired.
