BEANS WITH HAM Recipe

Ingredients
  • 2 pounds Great Northern Beans
  • 1 ham bone
  • 2 cups ham, diced
  • salt, to taste
Directions
Wash Beans and put in a large soup pot and cover with about 2 inches of water and bring to a boil; let boil about 3 minutes then turn heat off and let sit 1 to 2 hours

Return beans to boil and add more water to cover beans 3-4 inches of water. Simmer slowly for 1 hour.

Add ham bone and diced ham. A little broth from ham is good too. Continue to simmer a couple more hours.

During the last 30 minutes, turn heat up to soft boil leaving the lid off and add salt to taste.

Boil to thicken Broth.

Serve with cornbread.
