Pizza Cavatini Recipe

A pasta dish that has all the wonderful flavors of pizza in a casserole. Pepperoni, green peppers, onions and mushrooms in a Italian tomato sauce. Serve with a green salad.

  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 1 green pepper, diced
  • 12 ounces pasta shells, spirals or rigatoni
  • 1 jar spaghetti sauce
  • 8 ounces tomato sauce
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 can mushrooms, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 package pepperoni, sliced
  • 2 cups shredded Mozzarella cheese

Brown hamburger with onions and green pepper; drain.

Cook pasta as directed; drain.

Combine hamburger mixture, pasta, and all other ingredients except for the cheese.

Put pasta in a 9x13 inch pan and sprinkle with cheese.

Bake at 350 degrees in oven for 30-40 minutes or until cheese is melted.

"Perfect weeknight meal. My mom used to make this pizza hotdish when I was a kid but she added green olives. I used green olives instead of onions (not a fan) and it was just like hers. This makes a ton! Perfect leftovers for lunch."
