Apple Crisp 196 Recipe

  • 1/4 cup unsweetened apple juice
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 6 McIntosh or Jonathan apples, peeled, cored, and sliced (5 cup)
  • 1 tablespoon almond flavored liqueur, such as amaretto, optional
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1/3 cup rolled oats
  • 1 tablespoon canola oil
  • 1/4 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons chopped walnuts
Preheat oven to 375°. In bowl, combine apple juice and cornstarch and stir until dissolved. Add apples, liqueur, if desired, and 1 tsp. cinnamon and toss well to mix. Transfer mixture to 8 inch square baking dish or deep 9 inch pie dish. In bowl, combine oats and canola oil and mix well. Add brown sugar, walnuts and remaining cinnamon. Sprinkle mixture over apples. Bake until apples are tender and topping is golden brown, 35-40 minutes.
