Japanese Rumaki Recipe

  • 1 can Water Chestnuts, Cut into 24 equal pieces (8 ounce Can)
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 8 slices Bacon- Cut into thirds
In a small bowl, combine water chestnuts, soy sauce and sugar. Mix well and let stand at room temperature for 30 minutes to marinate. Drain and discard marinade.

Wrap a piece of bacon around each water chestnut and secure with a toothpick. Place on a broiler pan or in a shallow baking dish. Broil 4-6 inches from heat or 4- 7 minutes on each side or until bacon is crisp.

Note: You can freeze the marinated chestnuts. When ready to cook, thaw and wrap with bacon and broil as above
