Apple Tart 2 Recipe

  • 5 cups flour
  • 2 cups shortening
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • Filling
  • 12 peeled apples sliced
  • 5 teaspoons tapioca
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • Frosting
  • 1 package cream cheese softened (3 oz pkg)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 teaspoons milk
Combine flour, shortening, salt, and milk. Mix as for pie crust. Divide dough in half for top and bottom of tart. Mix filling ingredients and set aside. Roll out half of dough to fit 11 x 17 in. cookie sheet. Spread filling over dough. Roll remaining dough and place over filling. Seal edges. Cut slits so steam can escape. Bake at 350° for 1 hour. Combine frosting ingredients and frost while warm. Cut into squares. Serve warm or cool. Serves 18.
