Ingredients
3 tablespoons cornstarch
1 cup Sugar
2 1/2 cups milk
1 egg, beaten
1/4 cup butter
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 tablespoons brandy or rum (or 1 teaspoon brandy or rum flavoring)
Directions
Combine sugar and cornstarch in saucepan. Mix egg with milk and add to saucepan. Cook over medium heat until thickened, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and add butter, salt, vanilla, and brandy or rum. Stir to mix well and butter is melted. Refrigerate. Spoon sauce over slices of pound cake. Sauce can be heated and served warm if desired.
