Kentucky Bourbon Cake Recipe

  • 1 pound raisins (seeded)
  • 1 pound dates
  • 1 pound pecans
  • 1 teaspoon all of the above with scissors)
  • 6 eggs
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 cups flour, all-purpose
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder, add to flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda in
  • 1/2 teaspoon warm water
  • 1 3/4 cups shortening
  • 1 cup bourbon
Mix ingredients together and pour into bunt pan. Bake 3 hours at 250 degrees. Wrap in cheese cloth and store in cool place. Pour bourbon over cheese cloth every two or three days for about two weeks.
