Grandmother's Fresh Creamed Corn Recipe

Ingredients
  • 6 ears fresh corn or frozen (2 cups)
  • 1/2 -3/4 cup water
  • 4 tablespoons butter or bacon drippings
  • 1 tablespoon sugar, if desired
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 6 slices bacon, fried until crisp
Directions
Cut corn off the cob and scrape the cob. Melt butter in a heavy sauce pan or may use bacon drippings from fried bacon. Add the corn, water, and sugar. Cook corn on low heat, stirring often, for about 15 minutes. Salt to taste and crumble bacon over corn just before it is served. If corn needs a little thickening, may mix 1/2 cup milk with 1 teaspoon flour, mixing well or may add more milk if too thick.
