Similar to a cherry crisp, this dessert is delicious any time of the year. The red cherries make it a nice dessert to serve around Christmas time.

Ingredients
  • white cake mix
  • 1 1/4 cups rolled oats, divided
  • 1/2 cup margarine, divided
  • 1 egg
  • 21 ounces cherry pie filling
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar

  • Grease 9X13 pan. Preheat oven to 350° F.
  • In large bowl, combine cake mix and 6 tbsp. margarine and 1 cup oatmeal. Mix until crumbly. Reserve 1 cup of crumbs.
  • Add the egg to the mixture and mix until blended. Press in bottom of greased pan.
  • Put cherries on top and spread over crust.
  • Add the 1/4 cup of oatmeal, 2 tbsp. of margarine, pecans, and brown sugar to the reserved crumbs.
  • Mix thoroughly and sprinkle over cherries.
  • Bake at 350° F. for 30 to 40 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Can serve warm or cold. Serve with whipped topping or ice cream.
