Black Walnut Cake Recipe

Ingredients
  • 4 cups flour
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1 cup Margarine
  • 1 cup Black Walnuts
  • 2 Eggs
  • 2 eggs yolks (save whites for frosting)
  • Frosting
  • 4 tablespoons vegetable shortening
  • 4 tablespoons margarine
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 2 egg whites
  • 1 box confectioners sugar
  • 10 tablespoons warm milk
Directions
For cake, Sift flour and sugar. Add brown sugar, shortening and milk. Mix enough to dampen flour. Beat 2 minutes on low speed. Add 2 eggs and 2 egg yolks and nuts. Beat 1 minute. Bake at 300 in 3 cake pans for 25 minutes or until done. For frosting, cream vegetable shortening and margarine. Add salt. Beat egg whites. Add confectioners' sugar and warm milk. Blend well.
