English Toffee 39 Recipe

  • 5 tablespoons water
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 6 ounces milk chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup slivered almonds
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
In saucepan over medium heat, stir together water, sugar and butter; let butter melt and sugar dissolve. Keep on heat stirring occasionally. Boil to a hard crack add the almonds towards the end when the mixture begins to change colors. When it is ready it looks like melted cheese that is toffee colored. Pour onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Sprinkle chocolate chips on top and spread around till melted and creamy. Add chopped walnuts on top. Let cool and break into pieces. For faster cooling, place in freezer.
