Homemade Applesauce 3 Recipe

Ingredients
  • 2 cups water
  • Sugar to taste
  • 4 cups baking apples (I prefer Jonathan and MacIntosh)
  • Lemon Juice
  • 1 teaspoon butter (or shortening)
  • Cinnamon
Directions
Wash, but do not core or peel, the apples; remove little blossom ends. Cut into thin slices lengthwise. Place into a pot. Add water; cover and cook until apples are soft but not mushy. Remove from heat and press through a food mill or strainer. Immediately add sugar to taste (1 or 2 cups); add a few drops of lemon juice and butter. Stir until sugar and butter are mixed in well. When cooled, sprinkle some cinnamon over top. You can freeze the applesauce for later use but omit the butter.
