Ooey Gooey Butter Cake 4 Recipe

Ingredients
  • CRUST
  • 1 box yellow cake mix (18.25 ounce box)
  • 1 egg (large)
  • 1 stick unsalted butter, melted (1/2 cup stick)
  • Filling
  • 1 package cream cheese, room temperature (8 oz pkg)
  • 2 eggs (Large)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 stick unsalted butter, melted (1/2 cup stick)
  • 1 box confectioners sugar (save a little for dusting top of cake) (16 ounce box)
Directions
Heat the oven to 350°. Lightly spray a 13x9x2 inch baking pan with nonstick cooking spray.

CRUST: In a large bowl, combine the cake mix, egg and melted butter. Mix well until the dry ingredients are moistened. Pat lightly into prepared baking pan, covering bottom and sides of pan.

FILLING: In another large bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth. Add the eggs and vanilla extract and beat until well combined. Beat in melted butter until evenly blended. On low speed, gradually beat in the box of confections' sugar. Beat until smooth. Spread the cream cheese mixture over the crust in the pan. Bake for 40 to 50 minutes, until sides are set and center is still a little jiggly. Remove from the oven and cool completely. Dust with confectioners' sugar and cut into 20 squares. Optional: May top with Cherry Pie Filling. Makes 20 servings Prep time: 25 minutes. Bake at 350° for 50 minutes.
