Kielbasa in a Brown Sugar Reduction Recipe

Ingredients
  • 5 pounds kielbasa - cut into 1 to 2 inch sections
  • 1 onion - medium sized and finely chopped
  • 1 1/2 cups dark brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
Directions
  • Place kielbasa, brown sugar, pepper and onion in large pot.
  • Cover to the top of kielbasa with water and bring to a boil.
  • Heat over medium flame for 90 minutes to 2 hours, until the brown sugar caramelizes over kielbasa and turns a dark red, onions will disintegrate in the caramelization process.
  • Stir occasionally and turn down heat if kielbasa start to burn.
