Shoyui Chicken (Teriyaki) Recipe

  • 1 package chicken thighs
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups Shoyui (Hawaiian style soy sauce)
  • Remove skin from chicken.
  • Clean all the fat off of the chicken, by rubbing the chicken with salt and running water. {The salt helps rub the fat off.
  • Boil chicken and skim any residue from the top of the boiling pot.
  • Pour the chicken and water into colander; let it drain.
  • Clean the inside of the pot really well, and mix the water, sugar, and soy.
  • Then add chicken to the sauce mixture.
  • Boil again until chicken has taken on the color and smell of the sauce mixture.
b>Note: Regular soy sauce can be used. However, additional sugar maybe needed to offset the salt level. ENJOY!!!
