Holiday Caramels Recipe

Ingredients
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 cups white corn syrup
  • 3/4 cup evaporated milk
  • 2 cups cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 6 tablespoons butter
Directions
Mix sugar, syrup, cream and salt on med.-high until boiling, stirring constantly (be patient, it takes about 45 minutes). When mixture thickens SLOWLY add milk and butter. Cook until a firm, softball stage. Pour out onto a cookie sheet. Cool (several hours), cut into squares and roll in wax paper. (It's worth the effort!!)
